Priyakant “P.K.” Desai passed in 2015 after a long battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, but he was an original member on the Board of Directors for the Greene County Community Foundation. “P.K.” Desai’s idea was to establish the Small Grants Program, and he supported the opportunity with a gift of real estate. “P.K.” Desia was born in India, moved to the United States in 1968, settling in the City of Xenia in 1973 with his spouse, Usha Desai, as both being medical professionals. Greene Giving offers the small grants program for capital items. The grants go towards projects that have a well-planned approach to solving a problem and delivering services.
Who Qualifies:
Awards generally will be made to charitable organizations exempt from federal taxation under section 501(C)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Grants may be allowed to non 501(C)(3) organizations if there is documented charitable activity. All organizations must benefit Greene County, Ohio.
Capital Items:
These items are permanent or semi-permanent. Examples include park benches, shelving, tires.
How Much:
Grants are limited to $1,000.00 or less.
