Explore the Parks of Greene County

As we move into spring and summer, it’s the perfect time to get outside and explore some of the incredible parks, trails, and nature reserves throughout our community. Through the help of local organizations, volunteers, and generous donors, these parks provide safe, fun, and clean outdoor spaces for all to enjoy. We’ve highlighted several places across the county that are worth a visit this season.

Arnovitz Nature Preserve

The Sara Lee Arnovitz Nature Preserve is a great place to explore nature, practice bird watching, and excite your family about the wonders of Greene County’s natural habitats. If you are a school teacher interested in setting up a field trip at the Nature Preserve, you can contact them directly at 937-562-6440.

Beavercreek Parks & Recreation Department

The Parks, Recreation & Culture Department through the City of Beavercreek is responsible for 23 parks across their jurisdiction. By visiting their website, you can view a list of parks, bike trails, events, programming, and more.

Cedarville Community Park

The community park in Cedarville is a labor of love from the community as a whole. Over the past decade, a group of residents have raised funds and implemented new features to make the park a place the entire community can use and enjoy.

Greene County Parks & Trails

Greene County Parks and Trails helps protect and preserve thousands of acres and miles of trails across the county. Through events, activities, and volunteer opportunities, staying connected to the outdoors in your own backyard is as easy as 1, 2, 3.

Indian Mound Reserve

Located just outside of Cedarville, Indian Mound Reserve offers three connected parks, each with unique features: Peterson Park, Williamson Mound, and Cedar Cliff Falls. The reserve features eight scenic trails and a rich history waiting to be discovered.

Little Miami Watershed Network

We can’t talk about outdoor spaces in Greene County without mentioning the Little Miami Watershed Network. Their goal is a high-quality, sustainable watershed for people and wildlife, now and in the future. Since 2010, volunteers have removed more than 13 tons of trash from the river, helping preserve one of Ohio’s most important scenic waterways.

The organization hosts clean-ups, educational programs, and community events throughout the year to promote stewardship and keep the river clean for everyone to enjoy.

Morris Reserve

Morris Reserve is the newest addition to the Bellbrook Sugarcreek Park District. This 177-acre space of woodland, prairie, and meadow is perfect for exploration. Guided hikes are available, and while trails are still being developed, visitors are welcome to enjoy the marked areas.

Owen’s Place

Located within Victory Park, Owen’s Place is a one of a kind recreational project built with the mission of creating a park where everyone can play. It provides a universally accessible play and recreation area for individuals of all ages and ability levels, and even offers baseball and kickball teams for children of all abilities.

Russ Nature Reserve

If you’re looking to escape into nature, Russ Nature Reserve is the place to go. Here you’ll find an all-natural playscape among the woods, an apiary for beekeeping, and nearly four miles of scenic trails. Whether you want to let the kids explore, learn about local trees, or simply take a peaceful walk, Russ offers something for everyone.

Xenia Station Park

Xenia Station Park is a beautiful tribute to the long history of the community and serves as a key connection point between many of the region’s paved trails. The Friends of Xenia Station help care for the park and offer opportunities for community involvement.

Get Involved

These parks and nature reserves are wonderful places to explore, but they wouldn’t be what they are without the help of dedicated volunteers and supporters.

If you enjoy what these outdoor spaces offer and would like to become more involved, consider volunteering your time or supporting the organizations that care for them. From trail maintenance and clean-ups to community programs and educational events, there are many ways to help keep Greene County’s parks safe, fun, and beautiful for everyone.

The possibilities are endless, and together, we can continue enhancing the quality of life in Greene County, one park, trail, and river at a time.
