COVID-19 has brought an unexpected difficult time to the individuals, families, and organizations in Greene County and around the world. In order to help lessen the burden, Greene Giving and the United Way of the Greater Dayton Area along with other partners have joined together to establish The Greene Giving Pandemic Relief Fund.
Anyone may donate to this fund, which will help provide flexible resources to nonprofits that are on the frontlines of the COVID-19 response.
We are thrilled to share with the public that we have been able to award 8 organizations in Greene County so far. Combined, the charitable contributions total over $29,000. Learn more about four of these amazing organizations in our county, and learn more about how they are utilizing their resources to help our community.
Toward Independence
Awarded: $5,000
Toward Independence is a local nonprofit organization in Xenia with a mission to help individuals with developmental disabilities live the fullest life possible. In 1975, a small group of parents and professionals in the Xenia, Ohio area gathered together to discuss how they could practically provide services to adults with developmental disabilities. Over 40 years later, the organization has expanded to other towns and counties while still holding true to their mission.
The Greene Giving Pandemic Relief Fund will assist Toward Independence in purchasing supplies needed to safeguard and protect their essential employees and Greene County clients with developmental or intellectual disabilities.

Yellow Springs Community Children’s Center
Awarded: $2,800
The Yellow Springs Community Children’s Center is a resource to the families in Yellow Springs to provide enriching child care services. These services range from core subjects like language, science and emotional health to ensuring children receive nutritious meals and enriching interaction with their teachers and their peers.
With the funds awarded through the Greene Giving Pandemic Relief Fund, the children’s center will be able to rely on consistent groceries and cleaning supplies/services needed to provide meals and snacks to their students.

Helping Animals Lost and Orphaned (H.A.L.O.)
Awarded: $5,000
HALO is a nonprofit in Xenia, Ohio that helps dogs and their owners throughout Dayton, Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky and the surrounding areas. Through their various services, they are able to encourage, train and motivate owners to keep the promise they made to be a forever home to their animal. Through their foster system for dogs, they are able to place dogs in temporary loving and caring homes while they search for the perfect furr-ever family.
With the Greene Giving Pandemic Relief Fund, HALO is able to be supported in the various financial costs of rescuing and rehabilitating lost, orphaned, and neglected dogs through this current pandemic.

Antioch College
Awarded: $5,000
Antioch College in Yellow Springs, Ohio is a leading voice in experiential learning at the collegiate level. Through their hands-on approach to learning inside and outside the classroom, Antioch College graduates are able to enter the world after graduation ready to communicate clearly and bring about real change for the betterment of their communities.
Through the Greene Giving Pandemic Relief Fund, Antioch College will have the ability to provide the supplies needed to meet the CDC guidelines for a safe reopening of the campus for students, faculty, and employees alike.
