Organization Spotlight: Spring Valley Enrichment Fund

Since its founding on September 18, 2023, the Spring Valley Enrichment Fund (SVEF) has focused on a mission close to the heart of Spring Valley, Ohio: to revitalize and enrich the Spring Valley community through health and wellness activities. As a component of Greene Giving, SVEF is a community-driven initiative that brings people together in active, vibrant spaces, where residents of all ages can engage in outdoor activities that support both physical and social well-being.

Why the Spring Valley Enrichment Fund Was Created

SVEF was born from the recognition that Spring Valley needed a revitalization project, especially within Walton Park—a 24-acre recreational area that once hosted soccer and softball programs for youth and adults. With these programs diminishing over the years, there was a growing need to restore and improve the park’s facilities to provide Spring Valley residents with fresh, exciting opportunities for physical activity, social interaction, and wellness.

One of SVEF’s key motivations is to establish resources and programs that cater to all ages, encouraging multi-generational interactions and ensuring that the entire community benefits. SVEF is not just about physical health but also aims to foster deeper connections among residents and build a thriving community. The mission is to nurture Spring Valley by creating a place where people can gather, connect, and grow together.

The First Project: Pickleball Courts in Walton Park

The Spring Valley Enrichment Fund’s first major project is underway: constructing three new pickleball courts in Walton Park. Pickleball, a popular and inclusive sport, has become a go-to for people of all ages due to its ease of play and social benefits. By building these courts, SVEF is creating an accessible and welcoming space for everyone in Spring Valley to enjoy.

This project will reinvigorate Walton Park, turning it into a lively community hub where residents can come together to play, exercise, and enjoy the outdoors. The pickleball courts symbolize more than just recreation—they represent an investment in community engagement, wellness, and quality of life. These new courts will be a valuable resource for Spring Valley, supporting active, healthy lifestyles and creating new opportunities for neighbors to connect.

Generosity Through Scholarships

Statistics show that more than 60% of college students rely on scholarships, and about 15% of those receive private scholarships. Someone calculated that 1.8 million private scholarships are awarded annually in the U.S. Establishing a scholarship is a great way to extend generosity and pay it forward.
